Horten 2-29

In 1944 the nazis built one of these bad boys. it never got past the first prototype but i think we may all be speaking german had it of done. The first stealth fighter ever and a stylish one at that made from wood and capable of speeds upto 600mph. They were equipped with 4 300mm cannons and 2 500kg bombs.

Seriously they were nuts there is no way i would ever want to go 600mph in something made of wood!
It must be said that is one cool looking plane.

This thing has virtually none of the
technical features necessary for stealth, and these on-screen bozos suggesting otherwise obviously got their engineering degrees with boxtops. This aircraft had no anti-radar coating such as is used on modern stealth aircraft, and radar pulses would have gone right through the wood to reflect off of the two jet engines. Result: even primitive WW II radar scopes would have lit up like Christmas tree.

Reiman Horton said he mixed charcoal dust in with the wood glue to absorb electromagnetic waves (radar), which could have shielded the aircraft from detection by British early warning ground-based radar known as Chain Home. This application was tested by Northrop-Grumman in 2008 and found to have been successful, reducing the radar cross-section by 20%.
